About Me

Hi, I’m Ashley Tape, and I’ve been practicing massage therapy for over 20 years—and wow, time really does fly!

My journey into the healing arts began in a deeply personal and unexpected way. At age 12, I was diagnosed with scoliosis and facing the possibility of spinal surgery. A kind neighbor referred me to Ruthann Hobbs, a massage therapist and teacher in Indiana. After just a few sessions, my physician told me the curvature in my spine was no longer a concern. That experience changed the course of my life—it planted a deep appreciation for therapeutic bodywork that would grow into a lifelong calling.

My Training & Approach

I trained at the Alexandria School of Scientific Therapeutics in Indiana, a rigorous program where students are even trained as first responders before beginning hands-on work. I later completed an advanced certification in Pfrimmer Deep Muscle Therapy (PDMT)—a unique, friction-based technique known for its deep and restorative effects.

I may be the only PDMT practitioner currently working in Iowa.

Now based in West Des Moines, I bring decades of experience, deep knowledge, and an intuitive, compassionate presence to my practice. I specialize in working with both adolescents and adults, helping people feel more at home in their bodies—whether they’re managing pain, stress, injuries, or chronic conditions.

Living with Type 1 Diabetes

I’ve lived with Type 1 Diabetes since I was 9 years old, which gives me unique insight into the physical and emotional impacts of long-term insulin use. I work closely with clients who use injections, pumps, and CGMs, offering focused therapy to support tissue health and reduce discomfort in commonly used areas.

Caring for the Elder Community

For the past eight years, I’ve also been honored to work with individuals living with dementia. In addition to my private practice in West Des Moines, I provide massage therapy in local nursing homes, memory care, and assisted living communities—serving both residents and caregivers with a blend of gentleness, skill, and compassion.

A Creative and Grounded Practice

With a BFA from the University of Colorado, I bring a creative spirit, deep listening, and a strong sense of presence to every session. Whether you're looking for relief, connection, or a quiet space to breathe and reset—you’re in good hands.
